How to Paint Georgia O'Keeffe’s Femme Flower
Georgia O’Keeffe, who made New Mexico her permanent home in 1949, was famous for her flower paintings – which she claimed were nothing more than simple representations of beautiful plants. Regardless of the meaning behind these paintings, they are beloved (and imitated) by many. This class will teach you how to create your own beautiful, O’Keeffe-inspired flowers on the canvas with simple techniques that even beginners can master. This class runs every Monday – you can catch the next one on Jan. 10.
Painting Quick Start
Taught by Andrea Cermanski, who has a master’s in art education and over 25 years of experience in the art field, this class will teach you how to create an abstract painting in just two hours. You’ll learn abstract painting techniques, including how to use color, design, tools, and mediums in order to create the tableau you envision. Best of all, the cost of this class covers all the supplies including paint, brushes, and two canvases (or heavy duty acrylic paper for those who don’t want to work on canvas). The next class takes place on Jan. 10 at Agua Fria Park Road.
How to Draw & Paint Eyes
Most artists will tell you that one of the hardest things to capture as an artist are eyes. The subtle emotions, the spark of life, the delicate and precise shapes and shades … it’s not an easy task. But practice makes perfect, as you’ll learn in this Jan. 12 class taught by local artist Robbi Firestone.
How to Paint a Butterfly
Like flowers, butterflies are a favorite subject of painters – and also like flowers, they are equally hard to bring alive on the canvas. This class, however, will help you master the butterfly with simple tricks and tips. Beginners are welcome. You can join the next class on Jan. 14.
