Posa's Tamales Factory and Restaurant
The star of the show at Posa's is the tamales – they've even been praised in the local news and in the New York Times. The beginning of the legacy at Posa's started all the way back in 1955.. Today, the restaurant continues to serve quality meals, including breakfast all week. Order a burrito, taco, bowl, or quesadilla stuffed with eggs, potatoes, cheese, and your choice of meat. For lunch and dinner, you'll find flautas, chimichangas, fajitas, and more. They offer several vegetarian options as well. End your meal with flan or a tres leches cake. Don't forget to grab a pack of made-from-scratch tortillas to take home.
The Burrito Co.
Another restaurant that has withstood the test of time is The Burrito Co. This restaurant opened way back in 1978 in the historic plaza, and in 2006 the Castro family took it over. The chef infused cuisine from El Salvador with what was already on the menu. The restaurant serves breakfast the entire time they are open. Start your day with a breakfast burrito, Durango Omelet, or pancakes. Lunch starts at 11 AM and consists of salads, enchiladas, tacos, and even burgers. Finish with some fried ice cream or a sopapilla.
Del Charro
If you're in need of a local watering hole that also serves delicious New Mexican cuisine, Del Charro is it. On their menu, find everything from enchiladas to award-winning margaritas. They’re also known for their New Mexico Green Chile Cheeseburger, which has chipotle BBQ sauce, smoked bacon, New Mexico autumn-roasted green chile, and gorgonzola cheese with a house-made green chile relish. Make sure you splurge and get the chocolate mousse cake for dessert!
