Ready to raise your glass in honor of St. Patrick’s Day? You’ll find plenty of places to do just that right here in Santa Fe. Check out some of our favorite breweries that would make a perfect place to celebrate on March 17.
Santa Fe Brewing Co.
Established in 1988, this company is one of the oldest breweries in town. You’ll likely recognize their bold zia logo, bringing in the colors and design of the New Mexico flag. They were also one of the first small breweries to use cans instead of bottles, which propelled them to unexpected new heights of success. Their 7K IPA is the No. 1-selling craft beer in the entire state, with Social Hour following close behind. Stop by, have a sip, and find out why these beers are so beloved by New Mexicans.
Second Street Brewery
Another long-time member of the brewery scene, opening its doors in 1996, is Second Street Brewery. Enjoy the artistic scene surrounding their Railyard District location, or drop by their Rufina Taproom. No matter which of their three locations you choose, you can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in true Irish style with their small but filling pub meals and delicious selection of beer. Try their Boneshaker Bitter, Cream Stout, or House IPA and be sure to clink glasses with a hearty “Sláinte!”
Chile Line Brewery
At Chile Line, they respect the old ways of beer making – up to and including perfecting the art of rauchbier (smoked beer), which is made by drying malted grain on screens over open flames, much like smoking meat. It gives the beer a rich depth of flavor. They marry this technique with New Mexican flavors, like red and green chiles in their Que Picante and Como Pica varieties. We recommend the Mentirosa for your St. Patrick’s Day celebration – it’s a dark amber ale with pecan smoked hops.
Tumbleroot Brewery & Distillery
At Tumbleroot, you can dance the night away thanks to their dance floor at their Agua Fria taproom. If beer is your thing, try the Sunset Hazy IPA, Sunrise Lager, or Sour Red Ale. Their spirits include flavored rum (try the Mojito), vodka, gin, and three varieties of whiskey, which you’ll no doubt want to sample on St. Patrick’s Day.
