Santa Fe has always had a rich and vibrant art scene. In fact, the local O'Keefe Museum is world-famous and stands comfortably beside plenty of other great art museums. We even have the famous gallery crawl on Canyon Road. But you might be surprised to learn that there are many other wonderful, more obscure art venues near our Santa Fe, New Mexico apartments.  

Institute of American Indian Arts

The Institute is an art school set up to nurture the artistic gifts from Native Americans. One impressive aspect of the IAIA is how many types of media the artists work in. Beautiful basketry and soapstone line the walls. And cutting-edge comic books and multimedia displays wow viewers.

Meow Wolf

When it comes to "hidden" gems in the Santa Fe art scene, Meow Wolf takes the cake. To be fair, this isn't exactly a hidden treasure. People come from all over the world to visit this immersive art experience, which combines the excitement of escape rooms with fantastical art displays.

Meow Wolf has plenty of disconnected threads, such as a neon treescape aquarium space, a capsule with physics bent in on itself, and a little squad of pixie prairie dog creatures who purr when petted. But there is also an overarching narrative and story that accompanies the displays.

The Capitol

Believe it or not, the New Mexico State Capitol has plenty of unique art and architectural features. The round space of the rotunda offers beautiful light in which to enjoy an extensive display of some of the best art in the state. You can find giant landscapes rendered in incredible detail.
