SHOPPING FOR FURNITURE ONLINE? SEE HOW IT LOOKS IN YOUR SPACE VIRTUALLY, BEFORE YOU BUY

|

Shopping online for furniture opens up a vast array of options and allows you to more easily hunt for the best pieces and prices. However it can be hard to visualize just how that sofa, chair, table, or bed will look in your space. And for larger items, shipping fees can make it impractical to return something that you’re not 100% in love with after it arrives.

One way to ease that decision angst is to use virtual technology that lets you place the item in your home in order to see how it will look there before you buy it. These are some of the retailers and sites that have this cool tool available.

Pinterest

Pinterest’s augmented reality Try On for Home Decor tool lets you use the iOS or Android Pinterest app to virtually place more than 80,000 decor items from retailers including CB2, Crate & Barrel, Walmart, Wayfair, and West Elm, into your home. When browsing home decor products on Pinterest, three dots appear in the top right corner of any Try On-enabled pins. Just click that pin and then “Try in your space” to see the virtual product through your camera lens, and adjust and move these home decor products within your room to envision how they’ll look and fit.

The Home Depot

While Home Depot may not be the first place you think of for furnishings, it has a large inventory of furniture, decor, accessories, and appliances available online. Its mobile app and mobile website allow you to overlay select merchandise on an image of any room in your home by tapping on the “See It In Your Home” link from product detail pages. This will provide a 3D view of the piece in your space.

Target

Target’s mobile app offers the See It In Your Space feature. In a similar way to other augmented reality shopping technology, it allows you to see what various furniture items look like in your home, with a 3D view. Just type “See It In Your Space” in the search bar of the app to see all the products that are currently available in AR.

There are numerous other online retailers that also offer these virtual tools to let you see furniture and decor in your home before you buy. So take advantage of this technology to improve your online shopping experiences. For more lifestyle and shopping tips, check out the Sonoma Palms blog.
