3 SONGS THAT FEEL LIKE SPRINGTIME

|

With springtime in full swing and summertime right around the corner, your friends at Sonoma Palms have compiled a list of three songs to help you celebrate the springtime and all the sunlit fun you’ll be having this season.

Beautiful Day by U2

U2 frontman Bono has said that the “Beautiful Day” was inspired by his experience at Jubilee 2000, a benefit urging politicians to eliminate the debt of third world countries. Bono also stated that the song is about a man who has lost everything but still finds joy in what he has. The lyrics also speak of sadness, immediately followed by hopefulness. Like flowers blooming after a long winter.

“It’s a beautiful day. Don’t let it get away.”

Now that’s good advice.

Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles

George Harrison has stated that he wrote the 1969 classic, “Here Comes the Sun” one afternoon while visiting Eric Clapton’s house. The Beatles were in some tough contract negotiations with Apple Records and George just wanted a break. So he found himself in Clapton’s garden with an acoustic guitar writing “Here Comes the Sun” in an afternoon. As far as why this is such a great springtime song, well, the lyrics speak for themselves.

“Little Darling, it’s been a long and lonely winter. Little Darling, it’s been years since you been here.”

I Can See Clearly Now by Jimmy Cliff

Singer/songwriter Jimmy Cliff said in an interview that he wrote, “I Can See Clearly Now” in a hospital bed while recovering from surgery. The result is one of the best feel-good songs of all time.

“I can see clearly now the rain is gone. I can see all obstacles in my way.”

With the song's first two verses, you know what you’re in for. A song about new beginnings and facing a bright, sunshiny future.
