ENJOY PANORAMIC VIEWS FROM ALBUQUERQUE'S SANDIA PEAK TRAMWAY

|

Just a short drive away from Olympus Northpoint Albuquerque apartments is a unique opportunity for adventure, the Sandia Peak Tramway. Trams to the top run every 15 minutes, offering breathtaking, panoramic views of an urban mountain range as they climb 10,378 feet. There is an 11,000 square foot view at the peak that includes the city of Albuquerque, the Sandia Mountains, and a breathtaking New Mexico landscape.

Supported by two towers, tram cables are 2.7 miles long. The cables carry two windowed trams that each accommodate 50 passengers, and they travel at just over 13 miles per hour up and down the mountainside. You may purchase tickets onsite at the Tramway itself or online. The Sandia Peak Tramway is wheelchair accessible.

HIKE AND SKI WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THE TOP

Your adventure continues when you exit the tram at the top. While some visitors prefer to relax and take in the views, there are also over 100 trails from the top on which hikers can explore the Cibola National Forest. Some hikers choose to travel to the peak on foot and take the tram down, while others take the tram to the top then hike down the mountain.

During the winter months, skiers may enjoy 35 trails that are open Friday through Sunday and offer beginner to expert options. There are three chair lifts and one handle tow. Ski and snowboarding lessons are offered along with ski equipment rentals. According to the Sandia Peak Tramway website, skiing to the bottom of the mountain from the peak requires intermediate skills.

ENJOY COCKTAILS AND DINING WITH PANORAMIC VIEWS

From the heights of Sandia Peak, you may enjoy lunch or dinner at the Ten 3 restaurant. Named for its location 10,300 feet above sea level, the restaurant serves meals that include ingredients found in the surrounding area and emphasize local flavor. Visitors may also enjoy cocktails and a meal at Sandiago's Grill, located at the base of the tram, before the journey up.

The drive to the Sandia Peak Tramway from your apartment home at Olympus Northpoint in Albuquerque will take a short 13 minutes. If you are interested in visiting our community for a tour of available apartment homes, please do not hesitate to contact us.
