PLANT-BASED DINING IS COOL AGAIN: 5 SPOTS TO EAT VEGAN IN ALBUQUERQUE

|

The best thing about vegan food isn’t that it’s healthy – it’s that it tastes so good. Lucky for you, Albuquerque boasts delicious vegan restaurants that never sacrifice flavor. Here are some of our favorites.

Vegos

This incredible eatery was founded by vegans Elizabeth and Jonathan Bibiano, who wanted to see the best of New Mexican cuisine available in vegan options. Their burritos are epic, from the one-pound El Jefe, filled with jackfruit, to the Bosque, stuffed with potatoes, beans, and green chili sauce. Don’t think you’ll have to pass on the cheese, either – they make theirs out of cashews, and it’s delicious.

The Acre Restaurant

This dining experience celebrates what might be America’s favorite cuisine: comfort food. It’s all vegetarian – not only do they not serve meat, but they don’t serve meat substitutes, either. You can find plenty of gluten-free and dairy-free options on their menu. Try the Comfort Club made with carrot bacon (just have them hold the mayo if you want to avoid eggs), or the work your brussels salad made with a sharp, tangy vinaigrette dressing.

La Finca Bowls

Though this restaurant is not exclusively vegan, it focuses on health and flavor and features a few delicious vegan options. Try their Gardener Bowl with quinoa and sweet potatoes, or the Mushroom Katsu Bowl, which includes a mouth-watering curry with chili and lime. They even offer vegan poke and Key Lime Chia Pudding for dessert.

Thai Vegan

As this eatery says on their website, you don’t have to be vegan to love their food – because they work hard at creating a unique and delicious menu. You’ll find all your favorite Thai food here, but with a plant-based twist. Try the Soy Chicken Wrap, Steam Curry Dumplings, and Golden Tofu, deep-fried with sweet chili sauce and peanuts. And don’t forget one of their most popular desserts, the Banana Spring Rolls.

Planty Sweet

This vegan bakery is a favorite among locals. They make delicious plant-based cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes, and glazed bundt cakes. You can find their bundt cakes at Zendo, Humble Coffee Company, Whispering Bean Coffee Roasters, and Cutbow Coffee Roastology. You can also call Planty Sweets to arrange for a pick-up of their other selections.
