As the weather turns cooler and the leaves change colors, it’s time to cozy up. Here are three design trends that will keep you feeling warm and snug throughout fall, and make your home look beautiful.
Velvet
One of fall’s biggest upholstery trends is velvet. Soft, sensuous, and oh, so plush, velvet instantly makes a space feel comfy-cozy. You can add a touch of velvet with throw pillows in earthy colors, or fully commit with a rich velvet sofa. Velvet curtains are a great option to add instant elegance. In the bedroom, a velvet headboard creates a retro-glam vibe. Just layer one or two of these elements into a room for a big impact.
Earthy Colors
Think burgundy, deep greens and blues with warm undertones, as well as the more common brown or rust colors of fall. Rich, saturated colors imbue a space with sophistication and character. Mixing in a somewhat unexpected shade like blue or green adds visual interest and depth to the more traditional fall colors. Combine two trends and add velvet pillows or a chunky knit throw blanket in a lush, earthy tone. Bam!
Chunky Knits
Knit is the “it” texture this fall, and the chunkier, the better! Knits are everywhere, including on-trend home decor. A throw blanket is an obvious option, and it’s especially nice in a super-soft yarn that you’ll love to snuggle under. How about a knitted pouf to rest your feet on? You can also get a similar vibe from a macrame wall hanging that combines the chunky knit trend with boho chic appeal. Or pamper your bare feet with a rug in a chunky sweater knit style.
