5 CAN'T-MISS WINTER HOLIDAY EVENTS IN ALBUQUERQUE

|

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and Albuquerque is ready to celebrate. If you’re looking to join in, here are some of the best festivities in the city.

River of Lights

This celebration began in 1997 as a fundraiser for the Albuquerque BioPark. It was such a hit it became a tradition every year since and has continued to financially benefit the BioPark. The light show features over 600 beautiful sculptures and displays created by local artisans and craftspeople and will allow you to take a magical, holiday walk through the exhibit. The show runs through Dec. 30 – you can buy tickets on the BioPark website.

New Mexico’s Winter Wonderland Drive-Thru Attraction

This winter wonderland experience at Expo NM will offer attractions that can be enjoyed from the comfort of your vehicle (like live performances, light displays, hot air balloons, and luminarias), as well as a walking area where you can sip hot cocoa and take photographs with Santa. Best of all, proceeds from ticket purchases will go toward the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation and Ronald McDonald House Charities – New Mexico.

New Mexico Bowl

The 16th Annual New Mexico Bowl is all set to take place at the University Stadium on Dec. 18 at 12:15 PM. This marks a return to the usual bowl schedule, in which Albuquerque kicks off the seventeen games on the first Saturday of Bowl Season. You can purchase your tickets at newmexicobowl.com.

A Night at Old Town

When you live in Albuquerque, you can’t not love the charm and history of Old Town. Each year, this cherished part of the city kicks off the season with the Old Town Holiday Stroll and Christmas tree lighting in Plaza Don Luis. And just because The Stroll is over doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a festive holiday evening in Old Town, admiring the lights and Christmas decorations. You can pick up items for those on your gift list at the local shops and enjoy dinner at Little Anita’s or Fat T’s BBQ.

The Dinner Detective

Grab your tickets to The Dinner Detective’s Dec. 11 show at the Albuquerque Marriott. This mystery-comedy dinner theater places its actors right at the table with you, creating a fully immersive experience. Enjoy this unique dinner theater event this season!
