GIVE BACK THIS SEASON STARTING AT THESE 3 LOCAL FOOD BANKS

|

Thanksgiving is on the way, and while you may have plenty to be thankful for, there are others in our community who are in need. Learn how you can give back this season and make a big difference in our Charlotte community.

Loaves & Fishes

Loaves & Fishes recently merged with Friendship Trays to organize local food drives, distribute to those in need, and provide home deliveries. You can donate directly to the cause, volunteer to help out, or organize a drive yourself. Find out more about how you can help on the Loaves & Fishes website. They also offer mobile food pantries and events, and they organize events throughout the year, offering plenty of ways you can help beyond the holiday season.

Second Harvest Food Bank

Second Harvest just celebrated its 40th birthday! Serving the area since 1981, they help supply food and basic groceries to over 24 counties – the majority in North Carolina. Each year they distribute over 48 million pounds of fresh produce, meat, and dairy. Their main warehouse is located in Charlotte, giving you plenty of opportunities to get involved with the fight against hunger. Check out their website to see how you can donate your food, time, or money to help out.

Community Food Rescue

The goal of Community Food Rescue is two-fold. They invite people to think more critically about their own consumption and to donate food instead of wasting it – food that ends up in the trash often could have been a much-needed meal to someone experiencing food insecurity. Find out how you can donate on their website.
