What was once one of Charlotte's first textile mills is now a premier retail and dining destination. We're talking about Atherton Mill, and it's home to a wide range of retailers. Here are a few of the local businesses you can discover at Atherton Mill near our apartments in Charlotte.
Bookout Blooms
At Bookout Blooms, you'll find fresh flowers arranged in creative designs. Owner Ashley Bookout was named one of Charlotte's "Top 30 Under 30" in 2017. She specializes in weddings and other special events and also offers bouquets that will add a splash of color to your home. Shop for the Joyful Abundance arrangement. Perfect as a centerpiece, it features mixed seasonal blooms in a glass cylinder.
Uniquities
Catering to women, Uniquities is a clothing boutique where you'll find the latest styles. Founder Julie Jennings sold books door to door while in college. She used the money to travel the world and eventually settled in Chapel Hill. Julie opened the shop in 1992, and offers a carefully curated selection for every style. Pieces include skirts, denim jackets, and cuff bracelets.
The Golden Carrot
The Golden Carrot features one-of-a-kind treasures handmade by independent designers. They can be passed down for generations, and you can "mix and match the gems to create the perfect layering combo." Items include charms, emerald rings, and braided rope chains.
Living Kitchen
After some shopping fun, enjoy a meal at Living Kitchen. The chefs prepare 100-percent organic, plant-based meals. They source local ingredients and serve lunch, dinner, and an epic Sunday brunch. Offerings include nacho burgers, sweet potato sushi rolls, and chipotle quesadillas. Finish your meal with a slice of lemon berry cheesecake.
