The new year is just around the corner, which brings new changes, new goals, new … pets? Yeah, that’s got a nice ring to it. Take your love for animals to the next level in 2022 and adopt a pet at one of these three Charlotte shelters. You’ll pawsitively fall in love at first sight.
The Humane Society of Charlotte
Founded in 1978, Humane Society of Charlotte has a long history of helping keep homeless animals off the streets while connecting four-legged friends with new, loving relationships. Adoptable animals are available to meet by appointment only. Check out the online database to see who’s up for adoption. If you’re unsure what type of animal would suit your lifestyle, the folks over at Humane Society of Charlotte are incredibly helpful in guiding you throughout the entire adoption process, including helping you find your purrfect match.
CMPD Animal Care & Control
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control offers a variety of pet services, ranging from lost and found pets to medical services like microchip implants, spay and neuter surgeries, and vaccinations. Most importantly, there are also a number of dogs, cats, and other animals (bunnies, guinea pigs, and rats) available for adoption through CMPD, where you should plan to make an in-person visit to say hello. No appointments are necessary. Just pop over to the shelter Monday through Friday between 11 AM and 7 PM, or Saturday and Sunday between 11 AM and 5 PM. Not ready to fully commit to adoption? CMPD offers Staycation and Daycation programs, through which you can choose a pet to take in for the day, or up to five days. These options are great for the animals, and they help owners determine if it’s a good fit.
Daily Mews Cat Cafe
Daily Mews Cat Cafe provides a safe haven for adoptable rescue cats in a cozy cafe environment. Have some coffee and treats while cute kitties nap on your lap in the cat lounge — what more could you ask for? All purchases made at the Daily Mews Cat Cafe directly benefit the cafe’s goal of finding loving homes for cats in need. If you’re interested in adopting, you’ll have to set up a meet-and-greet to meet one of the local residents. So whether you’re looking for a cat for life, or simply some fleeting kitty snuggles, Daily Mews is it.
