3 YUMMY HOMEMADE TREATS TO MAKE FOR YOUR DOG THIS SUMMER

|

We know just how much our doggos deserve a tasty treat on a hot summer day. Why not reward them with a delicious pup-friendly snack to perk up their taste buds and cool them down? Keep reading for The Slate’s favorite summertime dog treat recipes.

To make any of these treats, a silicone mold is the easiest option to use. However, an ice cube tray or small paper cups work too!

Frozen Bites

An easy frozen delight you can throw together in seconds is made with some unsalted chicken or beef broth and fresh blueberries! Using a silicone mold or ice cube tray, pour in the broth to about halfway full and pop a few blueberries in each portion. Place into the freezer overnight and pull out a treat when ready to give to your pup!

Mix and match any of these ingredients like coconut water and apple pieces. Try unsweetened, xylitol-free rice milk and banana, or any variety of dog-safe foods!

Pupsicles

Blend two cups of strawberries and one large banana with water in a blender. Pour into a popsicle or silicone mold and store in the freezer. Your furry friend will love this tasty strawberry banana smoothie popsicle on a warm day!

Cold Treats

On a stovetop with low heat melt one cup unsalted, xylitol-free peanut butter with one cup pure coconut oil in a small saucepan. Once fully incorporated, pour into silicone molds and set into the freezer to harden. After a couple of hours place the treats in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator.
