It’s the hap-happiest season of all. But it’s also the busiest. Don’t let your health and fitness routine take a toll this holiday season. Make time with these three creative ways of fitting a workout into your schedule.
At-Home Workouts
By now, you should be used to the idea of working out at home, given the last few years of staying home (for the most part). The good part is you have the luxury of choosing when to do it, even if it’s at a moment’s notice. There are a few items you should consider buying to have at home, including weights and a yoga mat. Find a free workout program online, or choose from a wide variety of memberships you can take part in at home, like Daily Burn or Obé Fitness. It helps to have a community when working out, so knowing others are in the same boat is helpful in getting past those workout woes.
Go for a Walk or Run
During the wintertime, we’re generally outside less, which means less vitamin D and less fresh air. Maybe you’ve got a pet you need to get out for some exercise. Or maybe you’re solo and want to clear your head. Go for a walk or run and fulfill multiple needs, including getting a healthy dose of vitamin D, being out in nature, breathing in fresh air, moving your body, and clearing your mind. A 30-minute walk a day does wonders for your mind and body. And the best part? All you need are a few layers and a good pair of running shoes.
Wake Up Before the Sun
This time of the year can be incredibly busy – full of holiday parties, work deadlines, extracurricular activities, and more. Get yourself on a sleep schedule of going to bed earlier and rising earlier. Before all of the commitments start calling, get in that time for you, whether that’s at home, in the great outdoors, or at the gym.
