History

Polk's first store was opened over 80 years ago in old Savannah City Market. The family business flourished there, but it was eventually moved to downtown Savannah when a younger generation took over. It was a well-loved southern institution and a Savannah favorite stop. The city's rising costs and competition from a growing number of local farmers' markets caused Polk's Fresh Market to close their doors in 2011 much to the chagrin of their loyal customer base. But, it didn't take long before owner Becky Polk-Bashlor relocated to Pooler to carry on the family legacy.

Polk's Plus is a colorful cornucopia of farm-fresh healthy produce along with a large selection of beautiful plants and trees. Of course, it wouldn't be Georgia without hot boiled peanuts and Vidalia sweet onions and the market keeps plenty of those on hand. Other local products include eggs, raw milk, honey, and preserves. Peach butter and homemade salsa are popular items all year long. Flower and plant lovers are never disappointed with the huge array of choices in Polk's greenhouse and garden center. Polk's Plus will deliver fresh produce weekly right to your door. The boxes come in two sizes and contain seasonal produce that include five types of vegetables, three types of fruit, and tomatoes. Orders can be customized so you don't get what you don't want and deliveries are on Thursday. Polk's sends out the list of available items via e-mail and lists it on its website where you can place your order. Extras can be added by request. Deliveries cover a broad area and satisfaction is guaranteed. The market's motto is "from our store to your door." You can't get more convenient than that.
