For a fun day of exploration, head to the Moon River District. Nestled in nearby Savannah, it features everything from a contemporary marine center to a 275-year-old farm and school. Here is some of what you'll discover near our Pooler apartments:
Pin Point Heritage Museum
Step back in time at the Pin Point Heritage Museum. USA Today calls it "one of Georgia's ten best places to visit." The museum is inside the old A.S. Varn & Son Oyster and Crab Factory. It highlights the story of the Pin Point community, which for nearly a century, sat isolated on the banks of the Moon River. You can explore exhibits, watch multimedia presentations, and enjoy stunning views of the marsh. The museum is open Thursday through Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Wormsloe State Historic Site
Surrounded by towering live oaks, the Wormsloe State Historic Site is where you'll find the tabby ruins of Wormsloe. It was the colonial estate of Noble Jones, who came to Georgia in 1773. He later served the colony as a constable, doctor, Indian agent, and surveyor who helped lay out the towns of Augusta and New Ebenezer. Today, visitors can see the artifacts uncovered at Wormsloe and explore a nature trail leading past the ruins. In addition, historical interpreters demonstrate the tools and skills of colonial Georgia during special events.
Skidaway Island State Park
Lace up your hiking boots at Skidaway Island State Park. The scenic trails meander through a maritime forest and past a salt marsh. Along the way, you might spot egrets, deer, fiddler crabs, and other wildlife. Additionally, the park also offers campsites for tents, trailers, and RVs.
