5 REASONS TO GET STOKED ABOUT THE BANANA BALL WORLD TOUR

|

Our Savannah Bananas put on quite the show, a show they’re taking on the road this spring in the form of the Banana Ball World Tour. The Bananas’ seven-city exhibition will be the baseball equivalent of a Harlem Globetrotters tour. Here are five reasons to get stoked about Banana Ball.

Because Bananaland is Bonkers

A regular old Savannah Bananas home game is quite the spectacle. Breakdancing first base coaches. A male cheerleading team. A senior citizen dance team. Microphone-wielding players introducing themselves to the crowd as they walk up to the plate. There’s a reason they’ve sold out every home game since 2016. Games at Grayson Stadium are part baseball, part circus act. Now just imagine what the Bananas will dream up for their world tour. Expect some seriously zany stuff.

Eric Byrnes

There couldn’t be a better fit to lead the Banana Ball World Tour than Eric Byrnes, the club’s new manager. The zany, all-energy former MLB outfielder is completely, well, bananas – but in the best possible way. Since abruptly retiring from baseball in 2010, he’s made a splash in radio and television, most notably bringing his unique brand of crazy to fans as a talking head on the MLB Network. He’s already churning out comic gold in his new gig.

They’ll Play Right Here in Savannah, Too!

World tour, you say? But what about us faithful fans here in the Savannah area? Don’t worry. The Bananas have you covered with a stop right here at home March 11 and 12. From there, they’ll take their traveling act to Daytona Beach, Montgomery, West Palm Beach, Columbus, and Birmingham. Their final stop is set for May 6 in Kansas City, where they’ll take on the Kansas City Monarchs at gorgeous Legends Field.

Just Watch These Videos

We don’t have much to say here. Just go watch and laugh.

They’re the Reigning Champs

Yep. The last time we saw the Bananas, they were busy winning the Coastal Plain League. What better way to welcome them back to the diamond than the Banana Ball World Tour?

There’s no disputing that Eric Byrnes is living his best life. Let the Olympus Carrington blog help you make the most out of yours with lifestyle tips, restaurant recommendations, local events to check out, and more.
