3 EASTERN GEORGIA WINERIES WE LOVE

|

Spring is a great time of year to do a little local exploring. And what better to explore than wine? Take a short road trip to one of these wineries in eastern Georgia and celebrate the regional wine culture. And don’t forget to bring a few bottles home to enjoy later!

Here are some of our favorite wineries and vineyards.

Bell Farms

This farm and winery is the home of Rabbiteye Wine. Located in Bristol, they grow several varieties of blueberries that lend their wine its unique, complex flavor. In fact, their name also comes from the berries. On their journey to ripeness, a blueberry goes from green to pink to blue. That middle hue much resembles the pink eyes of rabbits who have a rare genetic mutation that gives their peepers such a lovely color. You can visit the farm for tours and tastings or pick up a bottle or two at the many shops in Georgia that carry this brand.

Watermelon Creek Vineyard

This winery keeps it all in the family and celebrates the tradition of good wine making. Their wines draw on local history, keeping Georgia’s vibrant past alive. Take a look at their Heritage Series for delicious whites, reds, and blushes. And don’t forget to check out their muscadine jams, jellies, and preserves for the perfect addition to your breakfast table. That way, you can begin and end your day with a little Watermelon Creek Vineyard goodness!

Butterducks Winery

After fifteen years in the business, Butterducks is more committed to the mastery of winemaking than ever before. Enjoy their Southern charm and hospitality and pick up some Brass Duck White, Viognier, Chardonnay, or Riesling. Each one has a unique flavor profile which includes vanilla, apple, grapefruit, and honeysuckle. They also carry amazing gift baskets for holidays, housewarmings, and hostess gifts.

Be sure to stop by The Enclave’s Clubhouse on April 14 for Wine Down Wednesday, our sip-and-go wine tasting. And when you’re ready to see and do more around town, be sure to check out our other blog posts!
