It might be hard to believe, but Valentine’s Day is almost here. If you haven’t figured out how to celebrate with your special someone and are cringing over the idea of trying to be romantic in a packed restaurant – one at which you haven’t yet reserved a table – fear not!
Think outside the box and try one of these unique date ideas.
Check Out the Sunrise at Gould’s Inlet
Who says a good Valentine’s Day date has to take place in the evening? Why not plan your date for the crack of dawn – literally – in order to see one of the most stunning sights the Golden Isles has to offer? Pick up your date with a steaming cup of joe and a box of donuts. Don’t forget a few blankets in case the weather gets chilly. Cuddle up and watch the sunrise from Gould’s Inlet, then take a romantic walk along the beach. What a perfect way to start the day!
Stargaze on Driftwood Beach
What could be more beautiful and romantic than the patterns of driftwood branches reaching up against the star-speckled night sky, right at the edge of the ocean? Make sure you go all out on this one. Bring blankets and pillows to make a cozy, comfortable place to observe the heavens. Have a thermos of hot cocoa or tea and tin mugs on hand (this is classier than bringing disposable cups), or a bottle of champagne and some champagne flutes. And how about binoculars and a book of constellations that will help you map out the universe above? If you really want to take this to the next level, tell your sweetheart that the date comes with a gift, and order the Constellation of Love from Uncommon Goods to mark this special moment.
Indoor S’mores
It’s simple, but oh-so-intimate and romantic. You don’t have to worry about fire pits or deal with winter weather … just bring your s’mores indoors. First, set the scene. Create a little “picnic” area in your living room – perhaps some faux fur or plush blankets and lots of throw pillows. Add romantic lighting with candles in strategic locations. Put out some pretty linens on the coffee table and mugs for hot cocoa. And when your sweetheart arrives, you can make the s’mores together and enjoy them in your winter indoor picnic area.
