The SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament is coming to Tampa’s Amalie Arena on March 9-13 and you don’t want to miss it. All eyes will be on this tournament as many of the teams are projected to make it to the coveted NCAA tournament. Current projections show six teams in the SEC conference with good chances of going to the “Big Dance.” Here are the ones to watch.

Auburn

With a conference record of 12-2 (as of Feb 16), Auburn is a shoo-in and will probably be a top seed in this tournament and the NCAA tournament. They just went down at Florida though, so they aren’t invincible. They will likely get a double-bye, so if you want to see Auburn, best to get tickets for the weekend.

Kentucky

The Wildcats would love to get back to winning this tournament after reigning as champions from 2015-2018. They currently have a conference record just behind Auburn at 11-3. They lost to the Tigers at Auburn earlier this year by a mere nine points, so a final between these two teams would likely be a great matchup.

Tennessee

Tennessee has gotten some big wins this year including matchups against top-rated Arizona and Kentucky. They have also had some crushing losses, like a 71-53 routing by Villanova at home early in the season. For a peek into how they might fare, watch the match against highly-ranked rival Arkansas on March 4th.

Alabama

As the reigning SEC tournament champion from 2021, the Crimson Tide would love to repeat that win, but they have not been without their struggles so far this season. With an 8-7 conference record, they are a bit of a long-shot in this crowd of talent, but they did beat top-ranked Gonzaga on their home turf, so they are far from out of contention.
