Clearwater Beach

One of the primo locations for watching sunsets, Clearwater Beach is a barrier island offering miles of white sandy beaches and innumerable locations to sit and watch the sun sink beneath the waves. You can lounge at one of the many beachfront bars and restaurants, or simply walk down to the ocean’s edge.

Sunset Beach

A few miles north of Clearwater Beach, the aptly named Sunset Beach is a slightly quieter spot to catch the setting sun. Located at the southern end of Treasure Island, it’s rumored to be the spot that inspired Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaritaville.” Whether that’s true or not, you may just have to go find out for yourself.

Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park

From here, you can see the famous minarets of the University of Tampa’s Plant Hall silhouetted against the Hillsborough River and the Tampa Riverwalk. Offering stunning urban views, it’s worth it if you can’t make it to the coast.

Whiskey Joe’s

Located right off the Courtney Campbell Causeway, Whiskey Joe’s is consistently rated one of the best spots to watch the world go by, and it’s easy to see why. Nestled against the Bay, you have panoramic views of the bay and the city, which you can enjoy with your libation of choice.

These locations are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg if you’re looking for great sunset viewing points.
