Get in The Holiday Spirit with These Holiday Activities Around Tampa

The holidays are a wonderful time to relax, kick back, and explore the Tampa area. The mild weather and convenient access to everything creates the perfect opportunity to enjoy these fun activities around our Tampa apartments.

Get Your Fancy Fir Trees and Wreaths

Evergreen trees of every size line the aisles of Fancy Fir Trees. This local Tampa tree lot is a favorite destination each holiday season. At Fancy Fir, employees love their trees! They will help you select the perfect tree to celebrate the holidays, and they'll give you tips on how to keep it fresh and healthy for as long as possible. Their fragrant handmade wreaths are especially popular, so be sure to take one home as well.

Volunteer with Meals on Wheels

For many Tampa residents, the holidays are not just for overeating and opening presents. You can also celebrate the holidays by volunteering and giving back to others in the community. Register with Meals on Wheels to volunteer at any time of the year, but especially if you would like to participate in their special holiday meal delivery program. Join volunteer drivers to deliver pies, handmade cards and other heart-warming and essential items to more than 800 homebound seniors and disabled residents. To make this special activity part of your holiday tradition, be sure to sign up early since an orientation session is required prior to delivering.

Stretch Your Legs at McKay Bay Nature Park

Instead of napping on the couch for the holidays, take a stroll through one of Tampa's prettiest nature preserves. One of our favorite holiday activities around Tampa, the 38-acre McKay Bay Nature Park showcases McKay Bay as a national avian sanctuary. Meander along a short boardwalk trail that winds through mangroves and mudflats. Or take in the tranquil surroundings from the park's 1.25 mile paved multi-use path. You can even observe the park's varied birdlife through spotting scopes from the park's observation tower on the east side or the bird viewing station on the west side.

Of course, no holiday is complete without planning for Black Friday shopping or Small Business Saturday sales. Check out some of Tampa's best local shopping just minutes from home to get started. Contact us to learn more about the welcoming features and amenities at Canopy at Citrus Park.
