The Most Amazing and Beautiful Gardens in Sarasota, Florida

Where to Look at Beautiful Flowers and Gardens in Sarasota

From shirt-drenching nature hikes to cool sandy beaches, Sarasota has abundant options for spectacular outdoor getaways. But not all outdoor activities require jugs of water and smartwatches. Did you know that Sarasota is home to some of the world's most spectacular gardens? Time to stop and smell the roses. Here are a few must-visit plant paradises near our apartments in Sarasota.

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens

This historic botanical wonderland is brimming with gorgeous flowers, funky tropical plants, and wonderful trees. Don't be fooled; the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens isn't your typical botanical area. You can find archeological exhibits, learn about the history of plants and flowers, and partake in conservation efforts. Better yet, this 30-acre museum has plenty of plants native to the Sarasota area. So, you may even pick up some gardening tips! Want something a little more hands-on? Check out the Butterfly House. Here, you can find over 180 butterflies native to the area, plus a few that stop by during their migration. If you want to see the gardens without the 30-acre walk, consider the year-round boat tour. Welcome to one of the biggest and brightest gardens in Sarasota.

Sarasota Jungle Gardens

While Sarasota may not have its own full-sized zoo (the Florida Central Zoo is a relatively quick two-hour drive away), it does have quite a few animal-centric attractions. We love the Big Cat Habitat Gulf Coast Sanctuary, which focuses on big cat conservation. But we're here to talk about a different hidden gem. The Sarasota Jungle Gardens combines the beauty of jungle plants with the fun and excitement of animal exhibits. While walking around the campus, you'll find plenty of unique plant species. But that's just the start. Butterfly gardens, lava rock arches, and wonderful lakes provide that extra oomph to your plant-seeing adventure. Of course, they also have animals. Have you ever wanted to hand feed a flamingo, hold a snake, or feed a giant tortoise? Of course, you have! There's plenty to do at this outdoor haven.
