THINKING ABOUT GETTING A CAT? HERE'S THE GEAR YOU'LL NEED

|

If you’ve been thinking about bringing a cat into your life, there’s no time like the present. But before you take the leap, make sure you and your home are fully prepared to welcome a furry companion so you can spend your time together bonding, instead of hurriedly making last-minute purchases. Here are some things to pick up before you bring your new kitty home.

Crate

One of the best purchases you can make before you bring a cat home is a crate. You’ll most definitely need this in the future, in order to transport your cat to veterinary appointments or other destinations – and it’s a safe way to bring them home for the first time, too! Further, a crate can help your cat manage their anxiety during the transition into a new home by giving them a safe, private place in which to hang out. Just make sure to buy a crate that is big enough to allow your cat to move around. And before you bring your cat home, make the crate as comfortable and cozy as possible – pick out a nice pad and spray it down with a calming spray for cats.

Food

In order to help your cat make the easiest transition possible into their new home, it would be best if you could find out what kind of food was used at their previous home or shelter and stick to that for a few weeks, while slowly transitioning to the food you have chosen for your new pet. Remember that cats have very individual needs when it comes to their diet. Read up on how to choose the right food for your pet. And in the meantime, pick up some organic treats for them so they feel loved and pampered from the moment they arrive.

Litter Box

This is an essential item to buy before your cat even steps inside your home. Try Nature’s Miracle Litter Box and be sure to find an all-natural litter, like Okocat Clumping Litter, which is made with wood.

Bed

There’s nothing like a cozy bed to make your cat feel safe and happy in their new home. Try the Best Friends Meow Hut – it’s not only plush and comfortable, but super cute, too.
