GOING TO THE DELRAY BEACH ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE & FESTIVAL? HERE'S WHAT TO KNOW.

|

The Delray Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival is coming on March 12. This fun annual event has been going on for 52 years, and offers something for everyone. Just 10 miles south of Oceanside Lantana, it’s an easy and fun way to get out and celebrate St. Paddy’s Day this year. Here are a few tips for planning your day.

Stake Your Parade Spot Early

The popularity of this event has grown and many groups and families set up along the parade route well before the noon start time. For the best parade viewing, get to the event early and enjoy chatting up your neighbors while you wait. You will be glad you did once the fun begins.

Consider Taking the Bus or Ride Share

While there are parking lots around the parade route, getting to them once East Atlantic Avenue starts to close for the parade (at 8 AM) will be tricky, and most are paid lots. For $2, you can take the bus straight down Highway 1 and avoid the hassle. Or you can pay a little more for a cab or Uber and get there in less time. Then you can let loose and enjoy a green beer at the festival.

Get Your Outfit Together Now!

Sure, you can toss on a green T-shirt and call it festive, but you will feel decidedly underdressed once you see the crazy outfits others are wearing. Getting in the spirit means going all out at this festival, so order your fake orange beard and giant green top hat now.

Check Out the Festival Entertainment

After the parade, head to the main festival at Old School Square for live music, games, food and merchandise vendors and some great people watching. It runs until 7 PM and it’s all free. Erin go Bragh!
