The Best Places to Play Pickleball in Jacksonville

Visit These Spots to Play Pickleball in Jacksonville

Did you know the pickleball capital of the world is located in Naples, Florida? Not too far from our very own Jacksonville apartments where pickleball is gaining popularity. It's a fun, easy sport that people of all ages and skill levels can learn. A combination of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, pickleball can be played indoors or outdoors and either as singles or doubles. Pickleball could be an exciting hobby to pick up this summer, so here are three public courts where you can start playing.

Fort Family Regional Park

Equipped with grills, picnic tables, hiking trails, and a concession stand, this park also holds pickleball courts. You could spend an entire day here learning how to play while taking breaks to enjoy the outdoors.

Pickleball tip: the rally starts with the person in the right service court serving the ball, alternating with the left service court as they score. The serve must land in the opposite, diagonal court. Serves must be made underhand with the paddle below the waist and at least one foot behind the baseline. Only the person/team serving can score.

Isle of Palms Park

This is a five-acre recreational park with playscapes, swings, a 10-station fitness center, and a pavilion for picnicking. The perfect park to get your fitness on and play sports as it also has soccer fields and pickleball courts.

Pickleball tip: there is a no-volley zone spanning seven feet from the net. "No-volley" means you cannot hit the ball unless it has bounced one time.

Boone Park

This scenic park is well-maintained and holds two pickleball courts. It has a beautiful creek lining the park with trails and a unique playground structure. For a more serene and less crowded area, Boone Park is great.

Pickleball tip: the goal is to reach 11 points, but you must lead by two points in order to win.

Pickleball is a fun way to bring friends together while remaining outdoors. Not to mention, these parks are free. For a more thorough breakdown of pickleball, check out the official website.
