The beer scene in Jacksonville has been booming, welcoming tons of new breweries and even the Jax Brew Bus. But the only way you can get to know the local scene is to try it all for yourself. Here are some great places to start.
Veterans United Craft Brewery
This brewery began when Naval Flight Officer Ron Gamble made his first homebrew – and found himself addicted to the art of beer making. That very first brew inspired what is now one of the biggest microbreweries in Jacksonville. Give their Hop Banshee IPA a try, or sample the Raspberry Hedgehog Hefeweizen. You’ll taste the care this brewery has put into their craft with every sip.
Bottlenose Brewing
With a wall featuring 50 taps, Bottlenose has something for everyone. They feature their own brews, other Florida craft beers, and some from farther afield, too. Try their Piña Colada Golden Ale or their Hound Dog IPA. As a bonus, you can enjoy their amazing food menu, as well. You’ve got to try the Loaded Baked Potato Fries or the Soft Baked Pretzel Sticks!
Engine 15 Brewing Co.
Engine 15 Brewing Co. was one of the first to join Jacksonville’s beer scene. This storied brewery features more than 50 varieties of beer, including the J’Ville Lemon Shandy, Engine 15 Hard Cider, and Old Battle Axe IPA. Their food menu is equally tantalizing, with items like the Brisket Beer Dip Sandwich, the Frito Pie, and the Smoked Tomato BLT. Be sure to grab a sweet t-shirt or stainless steel growler while you’re there.
Green Room Brewing
Chill and simple is the name of the game at this great local brewery – the very first one in Jacksonville Beach. It’s BYOF – because they don’t serve food, but you’re welcome to bring anything to enjoy with your beer. Try their Count Shakula Stout, Head High IPA, or Pablo Beach Pale Ale while kicking back for a relaxed evening. Dogs are welcome too, so bring your pup!
