When you want a freshly baked loaf of bread, you don't have to worry about getting out your recipe book. That's because several bread bakeries in Jacksonville serve everything from country white to pecan raisin. The best places for bread near our Jacksonville apartments include:
Jax Bread Co.
Nestled on the city's southside, the Jax Bread Co. began from humble beginnings in the kitchen of Executive Chef Nana Hammond. She graduated from the International Culinary Center and opened the bakery in 2012. Nana uses the finest ingredients and is known for making "simple food that hits your palate in a big way." Bread choices include ciabatta, cranberry walnut sourdough, and Italian round crusty loaf. The shop is open Tuesday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The French Pantry
Tim and Barbara Felver opened The French Pantry after moving to Florida from California. They had worked alongside Wolfgang Puck and founded the bakery as their next great venture. Today, John Valentino owns The French Pantry. While he brings new ideas to the table, he also stays committed to maintaining the shop's original spirit. The bread selection includes French baguettes, eight-grain rolls, and onion boules.
Community Loaves
A Jacksonville fixture since 2012, Community Loaves has grown from a wholesale bread bakery to a full-service cafe. The bakers start their day early. They create their recipes from scratch and prepare a breakfast and lunch menu that highlights seasonal and local produce. Bread offerings include whole wheat, rosemary and garlic, and Parmesan black pepper loaf (Sundays only).
From bread bakeries to spice shops, Jacksonville is full of great local businesses. If you’re interested in calling The Hawthorne home, please contact us. Our leasing team will offer a personalized tour where you can see everything our apartments in Jacksonville have to offer.
