Earn yourself the title of “host with the most” next time you have overnight guests, by providing a few of the following thoughtful amenities and special touches. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to make your visitors feel welcome and ensure they’re comfortable.
Fresh Flowers
This is so easy, but makes a big impact. Place a vase with some vibrant cut flowers on a dresser or nightstand in your guest room, or place a single bloom in a bud vase on the coffee or end table next to your sofa, if that’s where your company will be sleeping. They smell lovely, add a soft, natural vibe to any space, and show that you took the time to do a little something extra.
Nice Bed Linens
Don’t use your ratty old cast-off sheets and pillow cases on your guest bed. Instead, invest in one good quality sheet set and a pretty blanket or quilt that will make the bed feel coordinated, crisp, and fresh while giving off five-star hotel vibes. If you plan ahead, you can score an amazing deal on some luxe bedding during a seasonal sale, or find some at bargain prices at discount stores like Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, or Tuesday Morning.
A Cushy Mattress Topper
Make any guest bed or sofa bed feel luxurious by adding a plush mattress topper. Depending on your budget and preferences, you can go with a padded mattress protector, a latex or memory foam overlay, or a down, feather, or faux-down topper. This will elevate an already comfortable bed into heavenly territory, or transform a not-so-comfy hard or thin mattress into a dreamy cocoon.
Posh Bath & Shower Products
Some upscale shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion will make your company feel pampered (and save them a dash to the store if they forgot to pack their own). Stores like Ulta Beauty and Sephora also sell deluxe bath and body minis (like the ones you get at hotels) that are perfect for overnight guests. Complete the spa-bath experience with a set or two of fluffy bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths.
Even if you just provide one or two of the items listed above, your guests are sure to appreciate your efforts to help them enjoy their stay. Be careful though – they may not want to leave!
