One of the perks of living in Jacksonville is that there is no surfing offseason. Killer waves are a constant on our stretch of the coast. Whether you’re a novice or expert surfer, you’ll find plenty of places to play on the waves in Jacksonville. Here are four of our favorite spots.
Atlantic Beach
This long and narrow beach is a prime learning ground for surfing neophytes. Crowds are generally spread out nicely, making for a little privacy as your surfing skills progress. And there are surfable waves to learn on all year long.
Huguenot Park
Not a novice surfer? You’ll find more challenging waves to contend with at Huguenot Park. Popular with intermediate and expert surfers, this busy beach brings big waves all year long. Give it a visit if you’re looking to step up your surfing game.
Mayport Poles at Hanna Park
Known by locals as “the Poles,” waves abound all year long at this wildly popular surf spot. With popularity comes crowds, so be prepared to share the waves with the masses. The Poles is said to be best for intermediate-level surfers.
Jacksonville Beach Pier
Another spot that draws big crowds, formidable waves await surfers on either side of the Jacksonville Beach Pier. There are some challenging waves to be had here if you’re up for it!
