Explore the Outdoors Around Bartram Park and Jacksonville
Did you know that Jacksonville boasts the country’s largest urban park system? Nature lovers are spoiled for choice when it comes to getting outside and enjoying the fresh air. When you’re in the mood to get outside, here are a few of our favorite parks near our apartments in Jacksonville.
Palmetto Leaves Regional Park
Explore 400 acres at this local favorite! With amenities that include hiking trails, picnic shelters, softball fields, and a playground, there’s something for every outdoor enthusiast at Palmetto Leaves Reginal Park. There’s even a kayak and canoe launch for those who’d like to get out on the water.
Nature Trails At Julington Durbin Creek Preserve
A few minutes away, there's the Julington Durbin Creek Preserve. You can head there to meet other residents who like to kayak, watch birds, enjoy the scenery or get access to the nature trails. Julington has some of the best nature trails in Florida and the preserve encompasses a 2000-acre plot of protected land that also boats endangered wildlife. This is one of the parks in Jacksonville that you just can’t afford to miss.
Timucuan State Park
Though Timucuan is a bit of a trek from Bartram Park (30 minutes by car), it’s well worth it for a day trip of outdoor adventuring. 46,000 acres of coastal wetlands, salt marshes, and hardwood forests await you at this incredible nature preserve. The park is also home to historic sites like Fort Caroline and Kingsley Plantation, both of which offer tours daily.
