There’s a reason why Jacksonville is known as the City on the Move – so get ready to lace ‘em up and conquer your next run! Not so sure? To get you motivated, here are five ways running will make you fall deeper in love with our beautiful city.
Million-Dollar Views
Sure, it might set you back a cool million to own a house in Neptune Beach, but all it costs to enjoy the view is the gas money to get there. Pull up, hop out of your car, and pretend you just strolled out the front door! You can even shout out a good morning to the neighbors as you jog past. Going out for a run is the perfect way to enjoy ocean views while feeling a bit fancy.
Earn That Beer
Want to feel good about posting up at Wicked Barley Brewing Company or Southern Swells for the afternoon? Put in a morning run, and then you’ll just be making up for a calorie deficit with those pints at Jacksonville’s amazing breweries. You basically owe it to yourself!
See the Town
It’s easy to get cozy in our own cool pocket of town, where everything is familiar. But Jacksonville is a bit like a Minecraft world: There’s always something new and awesome you haven’t seen yet! Head to a different neighborhood for your run, and keep your eyes peeled for sweet street murals and beautiful parks along the way.
Wear Fun Shoes
In a city that loves self-expression, why not break out some shoes that are both wild and wildly comfortable? Running is the ideal excuse. Slide your feet into some cushy stunners from Hoka or Brooks, and let everyone in town know just how fun you are.
Get Bragging Rights
Conquering a big challenge means you can shout it from the rooftops and lord it over your buddies for as long as they’ll hang out with you. Jacksonville sweetly provides the perfect opportunity: Tour de Pain! Dig deep to tackle three races in 24 hours from Aug. 13-14. Start out your weekend with a 4-mile beach run at the Jacksonville Beach Seawalk Pavilion on Friday night. Then, with quads still afire, pull yourself out of bed for a 5K road race on Saturday morning. Top that off with a mile run downtown, and finally, celebrate appropriately. After all, you’ve earned it.
However you’re spending your summer, we hope every day brings you and JAX a little closer. For tips on fun local events, great hangouts, and ways to stay active around town, make sure to check in on the Cape House blog.
