WHERE TO GO FOR LOCAL HOMEMADE FURNITURE

|

Do you want to support local craftspeople? Are you interested in unique creations for the home, and not assembly line furniture? Destin, Florida, has plenty of options for you when it comes to homemade furniture.

Here are a few locations to check out.

Designs by Donnie

Donnie Galli is a local woodworker and craftsman who learned the trade from his grandfather. During a stint of unemployment, Galli found himself taking apart furniture in his garage, then redesigning and reassembling it to make it more functional and beautiful. And there, his business was born. Galli believes that furniture is more than just its function – he sees it as art. To him, these artistic pieces are meant to bring beauty into the home, as well as bring together the people who live there. You’ll find many unique items at Galli’s shop, but his specialty is tables – dining room tables and even game tables (i.e. tables with the surface of game boards), which accomplish his goal of bringing people together.

Chic Teak

This shop, also known as La Place USA, features handmade teak furniture and is committed to sustainable business practices. They buy only teak that is legally harvested and overseen by the Indonesian government. It is A-grade, eco-friendly, and solidly constructed, ensuring that each piece will be a good investment. They carry a great selection of coffee, end, and dining tables. And you can even jazz up your patio or balcony with their gorgeous outdoor furniture. Check out their benches and lounge chairs – they’d make beautiful additions to your outdoor décor.

Specialty Woodworks

This little Destin woodworking company goes one step further, offering custom-built furniture. They carry everything from hutches to bookshelves.
