Every holiday season should include some time to sit back and enjoy a cold beer at one of Destin’s best breweries. Here are a few local favorites to visit during your holiday break.
McGuire’s Irish Pub
This incredible pub is designed to resemble a turn-of-the-century New York Irish saloon. You can enjoy the ground level, with its expansive floor (there are 500 seats for patrons) or head upstairs to The Deck, where you can drink your beer and enjoy a beautiful view of the harbor. They also have a great dinner menu and regular evening entertainment. Try their Porter, Irish Stout, or their wildly popular Old Fashioned Ale. They even have root beer that they brew onsite.
Destin Brewery
Committed to honoring the Emerald Coast’s unique culture, this brewery was born from a desire to create a gathering place for residents who truly love craft beer. Their small-batch brews have received many local, state, and international awards – the attention they put into their craft is clear with every sip. Their Emerald Coast Ultra Blonde and Destin Ale are two favorites. Be sure to try their Sunset IPA (a blood orange blend) and the Mango Habanero IPA which is exactly as fruity and spicy as you might guess from its name.
Props Brewery & Grill
This brewery just over in Fort Walton Beach, was founded by two U.S. Air Force Special Operations pilots – the “props” in the name is a reference to propeller aircraft. These veterans have brought their varied and extensive life experiences to this endeavor and have grown Props into a household name across the region. Three varieties foundational to their line are Blonde Bomber Ale with its perfect balance of malt and hops, Dos Pilotos Lager with malts sourced from Chile, and Flying Coffin IPA with caramel and pine undertones. And don’t forget to grab dinner while you’re there!
Grayton Beer Brewpub
You’ll find this local gem just a short drive away in Santa Rosa Beach. They believe that good beer can help us pause and savor the beautiful little moments in life. Their 30A line is a tribute to the local “stretch of sand,” and each one features citrus, berry, and/or floral notes. And their Fish Whistle IPA is a local favorite.
