If you spent the last two Super Bowls alone on your couch high-fiving your cat, it’s high time you got out and air-fist-bumped with some fellow football-loving friends. The big game is on the horizon, and it’s time to figure out which of the best sports bars in San Diego will be your Super Bowl home. No matter how the game turns out, these five San Diego sports bars are sure to put the super back into the Super Bowl.
McGregor’s Bar & Grill
In nearby Mission Valley, McGregor’s Bar & Grill has been a go-to for San Diego sports bar fun since 1996. The bar features craft cocktails and a menu of well-executed bar food. If the game is a dud, you can entertain yourself with billiards, shuffleboard, or darts.
Barleymash
This Gaslamp District staple is vast enough for a good Super Bowl bash. Their menu is replete with hearty favorites like an array of flatbreads and customizable loaded fries and mac and cheese. Barleymash has an extensive list of cocktails and beers to wash it down.
Social Tap San Diego
Located next to Petco Park, Social Tap is one of the best sports bars in San Diego. It features 27 large TVs for excellent viewing, a full menu with elevated bar food (Duck Banh Mi Tacos!), as well as classic standards (Buffalo Wings). Bonus, you can get a reservation.
The Deck at Moonshine Flats
Moonshine Flats is a live music venue specializing in country acts, but their deck is decked out for football. The menu features smokehouse barbecue as well as traditional bar favorites. Get a pitcher of one of their signature Bloody Mary’s (yes, a pitcher!) and settle in for the day.
Bar One
If you are looking for something cozier, Little Italy’s Bar One feels like an old-world pub – with TVs. They serve a hefty burger and other standard bar favorites, 12 beers on tap, and a good assortment of creative cocktails to get you through the game.
