1. Julian's Country Christmas
Located just over an hour from downtown San Diego, Julian will make you feel like you’re in a whole different world. 3. Balboa Island
If you love the holidays but prefer a beach trip to a mountain getaway, head to Balboa Island in Newport Beach. Less than two hours north of San Diego, Balboa Island is famous for its holiday cheer. Stroll the boardwalk to enjoy the town's over-the-top Christmas decorations. Plus, from Dec. 15-19, you can check out the 113th Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade. Grab a spot along the beaches or boardwalks and watch as yachts, kayaks, and all kinds of vessels parade past with elaborate holiday displays.
