Racers line up at the starting line of a foot race

RACE THE DAWN AT ARIZONA'S SUNRISE SERIES 5K

|

If you’re a runner, you won’t want to miss this summer series. Race the Dawn hosts several 5K races throughout the summer at dawn to help beat that blazing Arizona heat. There are five races left throughout the summer – it’s not too late to register and participate in this challenging and fun summer-long series!

The Details

The five races left in this series are scheduled for June 19, July 3, July 17, July 31, and Aug. 14 at various locations in the area. You can participate in one or all of them. Just be sure to show up on time – check-in is 5:30 AM. You can register online or on race day. Each race’s entry fee is $45. You also have the option to choose how you want to begin the race. There’s an open start line from 5:30 to 6:15 AM, as well as a traditional mass start at 6:30 AM. Make sure to arrive before then – no one will be allowed to start after that time.

And yes, you can bring friendly, leashed pets. Walking and rolling (participants in wheelchairs are encouraged to join) are permitted.

The Swag & Prizes

One of the best parts about this event is all the fun swag and prizes participants will get. You will receive a custom series medal, and a racerback tank top, sleeveless shirt, or T-shirt for each of the events in which you participate. (Just remember that you might not be able to get the shirt size you want if you wait to register on race days.) Granola bars and fruit will be provided to runners before and after each race, as well as water during the course of the event.

In addition to the overall series awards (which require you to participate in at least two of the races), there’s also a drawing, which includes prizes like a $500 Visa gift card, and other prizes provided by sponsors.

The Why

This event is a fundraiser for St. Mary’s Food Bank, which donates food to nearly 500 nonprofit partners in 13 Arizona counties. Help them achieve their vision that no Arizona child will go to bed hungry.
