The summer is fleeting! Don’t let it slip by without making some memories. Recruit your friends and get in on these events happening in and around Peoria this August.

Donut Run

When: Aug. 14 at 6:30 AM

Where: Tortoise & Hare Sports

Tickets: Free

Pastry fan with a running problem? The second Saturday of each month, you can have your cake (donut) and eat it, too. Walk or run one of three routes, ranging from 1ish to 5ish miles and beginning and ending at Tortoise & Hare Sports. Burn a few cals, then earn donuts and coffee at the finish line. Although this event is free, we recommend you register in advance – spots are limited to 100 participants.

Mt. Joy & Trampled By Turtles Fall Tour

When: Aug. 21 at 8 PM

Where: The Van Buren

Tickets: $40+

Hailing from Philadelphia, indie-folk rockers Mt. Joy are co-headlining a fall tour with Minnesota-based bluegrass chart-toppers Trampled by Turtles. Bring extra cash to their show at The Van Buren – the tour poster is amazing. Plus, Mt. Joy has some of the sickest merch we’ve ever seen. GA tickets are $40 in advance or $43 the day of the show. Mega-fans can level up their experience with VIP tickets that include a pre-show meet and greet and photo opp for $140 or a pre-show acoustic set with Mt. Joy for $115.

Float Pre-Labor Day Boat Party

When: Aug. 28 at 1 PM

Where: Scorpion Bay Marina at Lake Pleasant

Tickets: $65

Grab your swim trunks and flippy-floppies, and get ready for the best Saturday of the summer. The Lonely Island guys (probably) won’t be there, but we’re betting the DJs on board will play I’m on a Boat if you request it enough times. Two ships featuring four live DJs will begin boarding at 1 PM and depart Scorpion Bay at 2 PM sharp. Choose your flavor: the dancehall and reggae boat or the soca and calypso boat. Tickets include a four-hour cruise, food, and one complimentary drink.
