4 BEST SPOTS FOR HEARTY BREAKFAST IN PEORIA

|

There’s something special about heading out to breakfast (or brunch) at a restaurant that offers indulgent dishes like Eggs Benedict or buttermilk pancakes, and leaving with a happily full belly. Here are some of our favorite picks for your next big breakfast.

Haymaker

This eatery has two locations in Peoria – and they serve breakfast all day long! Their omelets are bursting with cheese, vegetables, and meat, while their griddle selections feature all the classics, plus their famous Strawberry Cheesecake Pancakes and Fruity Pebbles French Toast (which is exactly what you are imagining). And you’ll find all the classics there, including Country Fried Steak & Eggs, Huevos Rancheros, and Eggs Benedict. Just be sure to try their specialty: The Haymaker Benedict, which is made with smashed potatoes, fried chicken, sautéed spinach, and smoked bacon.

Peoria Café

Over on West Peoria Avenue, you’ll find this charming café with a hearty breakfast menu that will satisfy even the hungriest of patrons. Their selections include grits, bacon, eggs, steak, croissants, pancakes, biscuits, omelets, and gravy. They literally have it all. Give their Sirloin Steak Burrito a try or their One Big Waffle, which is pretty big.

H2: Brothers Family Restaurant

Speaking of big waffles…this restaurant has big everything, so make sure you’ve worked up quite an appetite before stopping by. Their pancake and waffle plates are towering and covered in whipped cream – you might even mistake them for cakes. And wait until you see their Breakfast Burritos. In fact, this is the perfect place for a breakfast out with friends, where you can split some of the entrees.

Biscuits Café

Owners Ed and Barbara Preston have been in the restaurant business since the 1960s. Though they started Biscuits Café in Oregon, where they lived at the time, it now has a beloved location right here in Peoria. Give yourself plenty of time to work up an appetite while perusing their menu, because it’ll take a good long while to skim through it. If you need a little help deciding, we recommend the Fresh Greek Omelet, Chicken & Waffle Benedict, Ham Scramble, or the Chocolate Chip Pancakes. They even have four different kinds of Avocado Toast – who knew?
