For a fun way to get in shape, head to one of Flagstaff's martial arts studios. As you learn new moves, you'll enjoy a full-body workout that can help improve your balance, flexibility, and endurance. The studios near our Flagstaff apartments include:
Maximum Martial Arts
Owned by the Ginter family, Maximum Martial Arts offers classes designed to improve your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Founder Jim Ginter started martial arts at the age of eight. He opened his first studio at 19, and later relocated his family to Flagstaff, where they have promoted over 200 black belts since 1998. The adult program combines krav maga training with kickboxing striking and ground defense skills. It will keep you moving, and all athletic abilities can join in on the fun.
Aikido of Flagstaff
At Aikido of Flagstaff, the lead instructors have over 40 years of combined experience. Chief instructor, Sensei Richard Facer, came to the United States from England. Today, he calls Flagstaff home, and his mission is to share the art of aikido with as many people as possible. Regular classes are held on Mondays and Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays at 9:00 a.m. No experience is necessary.
Gracie Barra
Step into Gracie Barra to learn the art of Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ). Beginners start with GB1. This class requires a high level of concentration and teaches the fundamentals and principles of BJJ. The sessions offer a fun way to practice real-world techniques as you strengthen your mind and body. You can progress at your own pace, and the skilled instructors will help you meet your self-defense and fitness goals.
