Boredom this summer in Flagstaff is your own darn fault. After a long year cooped up due to COVID, there’s plenty to do and see during the warm months here in Northern Arizona.
Downtown Community Market
When: Every Wednesday through Sept. 8
Where: Aspen Avenue
The Flagstaff Community Market kicked off in 2000 and has since grown exponentially. Now held in multiple locations multiple times a week, market vendors peddle “wares such as antiques, records, books, bicycles, food, gems and minerals, handmade woodwork and leatherwork, ceramics, soaps, vintage clothing, used tools, comics, toys, household goods, jewelry, upcycled goods, flowers, and any other sort of funky, flea market-type treasures.” Catch the downtown farmers market on Wednesday evenings throughout August.
Summer Concert Series
When: Every Friday in August from 6-8 PM
Where: Heritage Square
Been missing live music? Flagstaff’s Summer Concert Series Presented by Heritage Square Trust is going down every Friday. The lineup includes An ILLustrated Mess on August 13, Sister & the Sun on August 20, and the Flagstaff Community Band on August 27. Check out these artists and more through September 10 during their free performances downtown in Heritage Square.
Flagstaff Hullabaloo Festival
When: Aug. 14 & 15
Where: Wheeler Park
Hullabaloo was the brainchild of four homegrown Flagstaffians on a mission to shout their love of the city from the mountaintop. This year’s event celebrates Flag pride with a bike parade, crazy costume contest, music acts, local vendors, delicious food, giant puppets, circus performers, stilt-walkers, face-painters, clowns, and more. General admission tickets are $8 for earlybird (limited quantity available), $10 in advance, and $12 at the gate.
The Brewery Comedy Tour
When: Aug. 22 from 7-8:30 PM
Where: Drinking Horn Meadery
Anxious to get back out there, comedians nationwide have been hitting up breweries and wineries all summer long. Now’s your chance to catch well-known acts on the cheap at Drinking Horn Meadery. Tickets are just $10 for The Brewery Comedy Tour in Flag on Aug. 22.
