The Best Local Trails in Chandler for Hiking, Biking, and More

Soak Up the Scenery at These Local Trails in Chandler

Spring has sprung here in Arizona. And if you're ready to enjoy the gorgeous scenery and reconnect with nature, then now is the perfect time to check out some of the awesome hiking trails that are just moments away from our luxury apartments in Chandler. Take a look at a few of our favorite local trails in Chandler before planning your next hike.

Veterans Oasis Park

Veterans Oasis Park is nestled on 113 acres in southeast Chandler. Along with its amazing hiking trails, 78 acres of the park have been designated as wetlands, which makes it a great place to see an abundance of unique Sonoran Desert wildlife. You can even participate in monthly bird-watching walks throughout the park. Plus, this place is also home to the popular solar system walk and the Chandler Nature Center, a huge fishing lake that gets restocked every two weeks during the summer months.

South Mountain Park

At more than 16,000 acres in size, South Mountain Park is one of the largest city-managed parks in the nation. This park actually encompasses three different mountain ranges, the Gila, the Guadalupe, and the Ma Ha Tauk. This park offers more than 50 miles of beautiful trails for hiking, mountain biking, and even horseback riding. If you want an unobstructed panoramic view of the valley below, then you'll want to stop by Dobbins Lookout. At 2,330 feet above sea level, this is the highest point in the park that is available to the public.

San Tan Mountain Regional Park

Stretching for over 10,000 acres, San Tan Mountain Regional Park shows a true sample of the variety that the lower Sonoran Desert has to offer. You can choose between the easier Moonlight Trail for a mild and scenic hike, or if you're looking for more of a challenge you can try the 6.4-mile San Tan Trail. This trail starts at the San Tan Trailhead and intersects with multiple other trails at various points. There are other trails, of course, with varying levels of difficulty. This place makes for a great daytrip hiking adventure.

And when you're done exploring all the awesome local hiking trails in Chandler, you can stop by one of these amazing sandwich shops to grab a bite to eat on your way home to your apartment.
