If you want to learn about the solar system, head to the Dorrance Planetarium.
Located at the Arizona Science Center, it's one of the largest, most technically advanced planetariums in the country.
The dome is the first of its type in a science center or museum, and since the planetarium opened in 1997, more than two million people have walked through the doors.
Shows currently playing include:
Ice Worlds examines the Earth's polar ice caps and compares them to the ice on planets and moons found elsewhere in the solar system. The filmmakers used the most recent satellite images and terrain data from Antarctica to create a production that's not to be missed.
Grand Tour of the Solar System
Sit back and enjoy a spectacular journey that explores the planets and compares their features. Grand Tour of the Solar System spans from Mars to Pluto and offers an immersive experience under the dome.
Beatles Laser Show
Take a break from learning about the solar system to enjoy the Beatles Laser Show. This tribute to the Beatles highlights how the band helped shape a generation, and features some of their most popular songs.
Lasers & Liquor
Offered nightly, this 21 and over event features the music of groups such as Nirvana and Metallica while a laser light show dazzles on the dome. Admission is just ten dollars, and the evening also includes beer, cocktails, and other refreshments.
In addition to spending time in the planetarium, visitors can also enjoy the center's fascinating permanent exhibits. Highlights include Flight Zone, Forces of Nature, and My Digital World.
