4 AWESOME PHOENIX BREWERIES TO CHECK OUT THIS SUMMER

|

There’s nothing like a cold beer on a hot, Arizona summer day. Lucky for you, the Phoenix area features countless options for great brews. Check out these local favorites.

Wren House Brewing Company

This historic brewery, located in the Green Gables neighborhood of Phoenix, came to life in a restored 1930s bungalow that now serves as the taphouse. Their goal is to create amazing beer using international techniques with an Arizona flair and offer the perfect atmosphere in which the beer can take center stage. To that end, they don’t have a TV in the taproom, choosing to allow guests to focus on the music and company of friends. They also don’t serve food to put all their energy on creating the best brews possible – though they welcome customers bringing in takeout to enjoy with the fantastic beer.

Tombstone Brewing Company

You’ve got to love a brewery with a slogan that reads: “World-class beer from the town too tough to die.” Their unique flavors and mastery of brewing craft have made them famous in Arizona’s beer scene. They recently opened a Phoenix location to serve public demand better. Try the Passionfruit Raspberry Berliner, the Oatmeal Stout with Cacao, or the Oak Fermented English Mild, to name just a few of their most famous varieties.

Helton Brewing Company

Passion and science – that’s what Helton says goes into all their brews. And the locals who flock here will agree. Owner Brian Helton is an expert in the field with 23 years of experience behind him and multiple awards. Check out their Boysenberry Sour (yes, it’s supposed to be that tart!), Milk Stout (with chocolate and coffee notes), and the “all about hops” IPA.

Simple Machine Brewing Company

Named after the simple “machines” of brewing (water, yeast, barley, and hops), this company is funky and innovative. Try their Cucumber Crusher Blonde Ale – yes, it was really made with cucumbers to give it a light, refreshing taste. Or, if you’re looking for something that starts bitter and melts into a smooth flavor with chocolate notes, try the Dark Side of the Mash IPA.
