WHERE TO GET OUT FOR A WALK IN CHANDLER

|

If you’re fortunate enough to call Chandler home, you know that even in winter, the warm desert sun makes this an exceptional place to be outside. While folks around the world trudge through snow and soak their socks in rain puddles – why not rub it in a little bit and get out for some scenic, Insta-worthy walks around town? Check out Olympus Steelyard’s list of great places to stroll in Chandler, and then get moving!

Veterans Oasis Park

Located at the corner of Lindsay Road and Chandler Heights Road, Veterans Oasis Park makes a great destination for morning or evening walks. While meandering 4 miles of trails, take in beautiful lake views, look out for the charming waterfall, and keep your eyes peeled for local wildlife. This lovely local park also features an educational Solar System Walk, a scaled representation of the solar system that provides a cool visualization of the relative distances between planets.

Paseo Trail

A section of the much larger Maricopa Trail that crosses the Phoenix metro area, the Paseo Trail runs for 6.5 miles along a regional canal. Pick up the north section of the trail at Galveston Street, north of Chandler Boulevard, and take it south past several beautiful green spaces to the current end of the trail at Riggs Road, west of McQueen Road. If you’re looking for a great way to spend a chunk of the day outside seeing the area, head to the Paseo Trail.

Snedigar East Park

Easily accessible and pleasantly scenic, Snedigar East Park features large green spaces and designated paved trails that are perfect for walks and jogs. The trails offer nice views as they loop around waterways and in between beautiful homes in the fashionable Fulton Ranch neighborhood. On the west side of Basha Road at Snedigar Recreation Center, you’ll find a dog park and massive sports complex to explore as well.

Dr. A.J. Chandler Park

There’s no better place to feel connected to what’s happening in Chandler than at Dr. A.J. Chandler Park in the historic downtown. The park actually links several green spaces and courtyards on either side of Arizona Avenue, skirted by fun shops and good eats. Fair warning: You may have to interrupt your exercise for a cold beverage at SanTan Brewing or a tasty charcuterie at Mingle + Graze. Head this way for a leisurely stroll – or even a good saunter – around town.
