FRESH IDEAS FOR DECORATING YOUR WINTER TABLE

|

Gild your next winter gathering with a beautiful and natural tablescape that incorporates fresh fruit, foliage, and even herbs in the centerpiece. Here are a few ideas to get you started, but there’s no limit to the ways you can creatively incorporate nature’s bounty into your decorations. Bonus – you can eat or cook with them afterward.

Cranberry Candles

Cranberries aren’t just for Thanksgiving. For a simple yet stunning centerpiece, place five to seven votive candles in alternating seasonal or holiday colors (red and green, blue and white, silver and white, or whatever suits your theme), in a line down a similarly colored rectangular serving dish. Fill the rest of the dish around the candles with cranberries, garnish with a few pine sprigs and dust with artificial snow. So pretty!

A Tower of Apples

Green apples are the perfect hue for an easy holiday display. Fill a tall glass jar or an oversized vase with green apples; mix in loose greens or small pine cones for a wintry feel. Place the container in the center of the table on a beveled edge mirror that serves as a table runner. Fill in around it with additional greenery, sparkling ornaments, and pillar candles of different sizes.

Citrus Centerpiece

Winter lemons and limes are ready to harvest in Arizona. Why not incorporate this colorful and aromatic bounty into your table decor for a zesty and cheerful look? Fill a large bowl or compote with some loose evergreen sprays, then arrange some large pinecones and whole lemons or limes (or an assortment of both), among the greenery. Alternatively, place a rectangular beveled-edge mirror in the center of the table, and arrange the evergreens, pinecones, lemons, and limes along it, interspersed with several pillar candles of assorted heights. You can also include slices of preserved lemons too.

Tiny Trees

Find a low, rectangular wooden tray or box, or three small decorative pots (around 4 inches in diameter). Place some florist’s foam in the bottom then “plant” three 6- to 8-inch tall branches of rosemary. Surround the base of each rosemary “tree” with some decorative moss, chestnuts, mini pinecones, or cranberries. You can add some shimmer to the decorative base with a sprinkle of faux snow or some gold or silver glitter if you wish, or just leave it natural. Arrange the tray or the three pots in the center of your table to create a fragrant mini-forest.
