They’re miles ahead of the Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors atop the Western Conference standings. They’re loaded with superstars. And Vegas has them as the odds-on favorite to win it all. Here are four reasons why we think the Phoenix Suns will prove Vegas right and win an NBA title this season.

1. The Deepest of Rosters

They’ve got superstars – Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, Chris Paul. They’ve got invaluable role players – Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, Cameron Payne, Aaron Holiday, Jae Crowder, Landry Shamet. No matter what lineup they throw at you, the Suns are dangerous. Few NBA teams have as much firepower as the Suns.

2. They’re Gaining Playoff Experience

Last year’s NBA Finals appearance – which came on the heels of 10 straight seasons of missing the playoffs – was the first step. This is the season the Suns take the next step. Young players like Booker and Ayton now know what it takes to win in the playoffs. We’re betting they put it all together for the franchise’s first title.

3. They’ve Got Shooters

Booker. Bridges. Johnson. Shamet. Crowder. Torrey Craig. All can bury it from beyond the arc. And if we’ve learned anything the past, oh, decade or so, it’s that you must have shooters if you hope to contend for a title.

4. Battled Test in the West

The top of the Western Conference is brutal. Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies are coming into their own as a powerhouse. Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors are awakening from their post-dynasty rebuild. Not far behind them are the Utah Jazz, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets. Even Karl Anthony-Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves are holding their own. Wins are hard to come by in this tightly contested conference – and the Suns are the best of the bunch.
