In today's day and age, video games are just as big, if not bigger, than the film industry. So it's no wonder we see A-list actors like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Gianarlo Esposito, and Keanu Reeves lending their voices and likeness to main characters in the video games. And as the line between movies and gaming thins, video games have begun having their fair share of unexpected appearances of well-known actors. So whether it was for a favor or simply a love for the game, here are three celebrities who briefly appeared in popular video games.
Keith David (Mortal Kombat 11)
With an exceptionally long list of accolades in both voice work and live-action, it's no surprise that Keith David lent his voice to Mortal Kombat 11's guest character, Spawn. After all, Keith David has history with the character. He voiced Spawn in the HBO animated series that ran from 1997 to 1999.
Buzz Aldrin (Mass Effect 3)
One of the world's most popular triple-A game franchises, it's widely agreed that Mass Effect 3 didn't quite nail the landing. However, everyone agrees that having legendary astronaut and second man to walk on the moon, Buzz Aldrin, voice an old man telling a story to a young boy as they gaze up at the stars is flawless.
Jeffrey Wright (The Last Of Us Part II)
From HBO's Westworld to voicing the Watcher in the Disney Plus Marvel series What If…?, Jeffrey Wright is a well-respected actor who probably hasn't had to audition for a part in years. So when you discover that Wright voiced the character of Isaac Dixon in The Last of Us: Part II, a character who's only in a few brief scenes, you can only surmise that Wright is a fan of the game and just wanted to be a part of it. Which, I mean, come on. If you were a celebrity who loved video games, wouldn't you do the same?
